Runecast innovation recognized with EU Horizon 2020 grant
LONDON, UK – November 26, 2019 – Runecast Solutions, a leading provider of patented predictive analytics for VMware environments, announces that it has won a Horizon 2020 EU grant to further expand the capabilities of its automated AI-driven management and remediation solution, Runecast Analyzer.
Human technology has entered an era when technical issues that cause service interruptions can and often have life-threatening effects. For example, airport flight control systems, railway management systems, or hospital life-support systems had been previously dealt with reactively, due in part to incongruity of technological advancements. In 2015, Runecast founders conceived of a way to automate discovery and remediation of potential issues within ICT systems in order to mitigate service disruptions.
"Our focus behind Runecast has always been to increase the availability, security, and performance of critical systems," said Stan Markov, CEO and Co-Founder of Runecast, "so we developed a way to do that by aggregating relevant human-readable knowledge, analyzing it via our own AI, and providing automated and proactive remediation guidelines, best practices, and security compliance directly to IT administrators – in real time."
This resulted in the Q4 2015 development of Runecast Analyzer, a management solution that provides the ability to identify known technical issues and problematic patterns before they can cause service interruptions or pose other risks, security-based or otherwise, within a VMware-based environment.
The Runecast Analyzer A.I., called RAIKA (for Runecast A.I. Knowledge Automation), enables companies using Runecast Analyzer to transcend the previous status quo of approaching critical issues primarily in a reactive manner, as the analyzer gathers and parses information from public knowledge bases, translates it into digital data, and then uses that data to automatically investigate configurations and logs in the applicable ICT environments.
"Compared to previous methods, this enables companies to 'see the future' in terms of mission-critical issues and be able to proactively remediate them before they can turn to catastrophic business failures," said Aylin Sali, CTO and Co-Founder of Runecast.
Some organizations already using Runecast to eliminate service outages and automate security compliance include: Chevron, Erste Bank, Raiffeisen Bank, de Volksbank, Fujisoft, Scania, and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). These companies already benefit from one of the latest innovations in Runecast Analyzer, the ability to simulate upgrades against the VMware hardware-compatibility list, or HCL, at which time potential incompatibilities are shown prior to any upgrade.
The Horizon 2020 Grant will enable the R&D Team of Runecast Analyzer to further improve RAIKA, to help to extend the scope of Runecast Analyzer beyond VMware – into other platforms that can benefit from automated predictive technologies.
About Horizon 2020
Horizon 2020 – a European Union (EU) program that funds research, innovation, and technical development – has provided grants to innovative R&D projects through open, competitive calls for proposals. Startups or SMEs can receive only a single grant, not to exceed €2.5M. Horizon 2020 is also implementing the European environmental research and innovation policy, which is aimed at defining and turning into reality a transformative agenda for greening the economy and the society as a whole so as to achieve a truly sustainable development. After Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe is planned to launch in 2021 with a proposed budget of €94.1B (up from €77B that was allotted for Horizon 2020).
